Onscreen History of Deathstroke the Terminator UPDATED

The mercenary Slade Wilson AKA Deathstroke the Terminator was introduced in 1980 in the pages of The New Teen Titans #2 and has since become one of DC's greatest adversaries. Although initially known simply as the Terminator, the name Deathstroke was introduced to prevent confusion with the Terminator franchise. But terminating is not all he does. Slade is also the proud father of Teen Titan Rose Wilson AKA Ravager.

Updated with first look from Arrow.

The first onscreen character named Deathstroke was admittedly not this Deathstroke. In the Lois & Clark episode, Bob and Carol and Lois and Clark, Bob was actually a former scientist and assassin with magnetic powers. "Bob the Terminator" doesn't quite have the same ring.

Deathstroke rose in prominence thanks to the animated Teen Titans series using the more kid friendly name Slade. Obsessed with mentoring his own apprentice, Slade first set his sights on Robin and later on Terra. Alas, poor Terra.

Slade Wilson, along with his daughter, next returned as the righteous president who stood up against the Crime Syndicate on the alternate Earth in Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths.

During Smallville's final season, General Slade Wilson led the charge demanding the implementation of the Vigilante Registration Act. Although he bested Hawkman, Slade was eventually banished to the Phantom Zone.

Most recently, the extended teaser trailer for the upcoming series Arrow briefly hinted at an appearance by none other than Deathstroke by presenting a quick image of his iconic half black half orange mask. Whether or not he makes an appearance in the series has us crossing our fingers.

UPDATE OCT 2012

Here is the first look at Slade who will appear in Arrow episode 5, Damaged! Looks epic.

Slade is also "slated" for an appearance  on Young Justice, if the show ever gets to air again.
