At first the banishment of criminal bug people to Earth didn't seem such a big deal especially since they were bug sized (well maybe more like parrot sized). But their mind control ability quickly made them a force to be reckoned with.
Not being hugely familiar with Space Ghost I can't say for sure, but the bugs really reminded me of SGs foe Zorak, the one that looked like a mantis. I guess we will just call that an "homage." I did like how Jayna actually came up with a useful purpose for her powers as she transformed into a "space insect" to infiltrate the swarm. Though, form of ice fly swatter may have been more effective. In the end the bugs were caught by the trusty old Bat-vacuum and a giant clam shell. Should have seen that coming.
