What this series did for the Clock King is perhaps even more remarkable than the revitalization of Mr. Freeze. Whereas Mr. Freeze had previously been a C-list villain, the Clock King was just a joke. But this telling of the villain's origin's is one of my very favorite episodes of the series. It has all the classic elements of tragedy stemming from one bad day and it crescendos with a final sequence that was so much fun to watch. (see what I did there?)
I enjoyed how Temple Fugate's attention to the mundane is what gave him the appearance of superpowers. The dude sure was annoying, but it was that off-putting anal retentive personality that sold his abilities. This villain tested Batman's wits. We have seen Batman outfight the bad guys, but its just as fun seeing him outsmart them. Of course, the real genius was in the episode's climactic clock tower fight which must have been a huge pain to animate. But it was sure worth it.
