I will go on record and say the GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra is better than all three Transformers movies. While it was not a perfect movie, it was a lot of fun- especially the final act with the underwater sequences and the showdown between Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. Speaking of the ninjas, the first GI Joe also featured an epic flashback within a flashback of the two rivals. Needless to say, I am looking forward to GI Joe 2: Retaliation (coming June 29, 2012) and this trailer hasn't let me down.
Even though a lot of the original film's stars are not returning, additions like Mr. The Rock and Bruce Willis can only mean good things. Plus the ninjas are all back (somehow) +1... except fortunately Snake Eyes lost his lips. Basically this looks like it could be another really fun movie.
I just saw the first GI Joe on Netflix a few months ago and was reasonably entertained, though I thought some of the effects were poorly done. This one does look pretty good though, and yes, I would say The Rock is an upgrade over pretty much anyone from the last one. AND Bruce Willis is a major score for them.
