Crisis of Infinite Episodes - Amethyst Princess of Gemworld: Level Seven: Welcome Home

As if Amethyst hadn't already given us more than we deserved with an inspired and endearing 6-short saga, this epilogue sealed the series with a kiss. I truly hope this isn't the last we see of Amy - but if this is it, Amethyst of Gemworld has more charm and soul in its 9 minutes than some series have in 20+ episodes. Now excuse me while I watch them all again.

Its all been building to this, the showdown with Prince Topaz; and of course, Amy did it again. By now I have basically run out of compliments for these shorts and this one holds up with the rest. It is beautifully animated, full of heart, and I am just not ready for it to be over yet... luckily we were treated to an epilogue and so there is still one more final adventure to go.

While not quite as charming as the best of this series, this was still an excellent chapter leading up to what is sure to be an epic finale. Amethyst is so endearing and the animation is so well done that I can't imagine this as a full series not being a huge hit.

Things are amping up for Amy and I like it. So far this series has been nothing but pleasant surprises of excellent animation and clever nostalgic nods. This time, the line "Its dangerous to go alone, take this" was a shout out to The Legend of Zelda, which may have been one of the many sources of inspiration for these shorts. That sure was one pathetic skeleton as well, which made him all the more endearing.

Three episodes in and Amethyst has already achieved classic status. While creepy that all the plants and trees had faces, it was equally hilarious watching Pegacorn eat them while they cheerfully recited "he loves me, he loves me not." Throw in an homage to the RPG Dragon Warrior's legendary slime villain and you have struck gold!

While not quite a amazing as the brilliant first segment, this was still pretty darned enjoyable. It looks like the RPG-like world rules are being established and perhaps Amethyst will level up soon to face off with Dark Opal. The hot pepper gag was also pretty fun. Still loving the animation and look of the series. I hope this lasts for more than just 6 shorts.

This was amazing and exactly what these shorts should be. Sure, Batman shorts can be fun or even brilliant as was the case with the Bat Man of Shanghai, but shorts like this can succeed by taking a character like Amethyst that hardly any one cares about, and after one minute making a strong case for the character begging for her own series.

First Look at Bane of Shanghai and More DC Nation Shorts

DC Nation is on a hot streak. Last week's new series Bat Man of Shanghai is perhaps the best yet. Although a skinny Bane made a cameo a just released video preview of upcoming DC Nation shorts gives the first glimpse of a venom infused Bane who will appear this Saturday. This Saturday also teases a New Teen Titans short, Red X Unmasked. Its going to be an epic weekend even if the main shows are in reruns. Along with the glimpse of Shanghai Bane, the preview footage offered first looks at several other upcoming series.

The Citizenry of DC Nation Assemble and Pose

With Comic Con, I expect there to be a tidal wave of news and I may not have something quipy to say about everything so I will keep this brief.  Hopefully this DC Nation "family photo" implies that Princess Amethyst will soon be making her dramatic debut as we have already seen everyone else in the pic. To quote Anakin, "Yipee!"

Amethyst Confirmed For DC Nation

According to Brianne Drouhard at her  Potato Farm Girl Blog the mystery girl on the flying unicorn is in fact Amethyst of Gemworld which will be getting her own short as part of DC Nation separate from the girls of Super Best Friends Forever.

Amthyst Princess of Gemworld and Other DC Nation Theories

Since initially posting images from the DC Nation promotional video (along with the Aardman Claymation Batman and Teen Titans burping video) some theories have emerged about what exactly will be included in DC Nation. On the top of the list of images that is receiving attention is the above image of a young lass riding a flying unicorn. Although my initial thought was that this must be from a Super Best Friends Forever (aka Super BFF) short, perhaps showcasing Starfire, I came across another theory at Thoughtnami that the image is actually of Amethyst: Princess of Gemworld, a character published by DC comics in the 1980's. Who, you ask?

Watch Claymation Batman and Meet New Citizens of DC Nation

Last night during the debut of Green Lantern: The Animated Series, Cartoon Network ran a preview of DC Nation which can best be described as a programming content block containing episodes of shows along with shorts and other content interspersed during the commercial breaks. Along with hints at some of the shorts to come, last night's DC Nation preview also featured two such shorts, Claymation Batman from Aardman Studios and a Chibi Titans burpathon.
