Crisis of Infinite Episodes - Supergirls Series Concept

According to DC Women Kicking Ass,  the idea of a trio of super young ladies could have played out much differently in 2012. Ultimately, the superb Super Best Friends Forever shorts were made for DC Nation, but another pitch had Supergirl, Wonder Girl, and Batgirl teaming up as Supergirls.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - New Teen Titans: Kidz Korner 4 Kidz

This was the Titans version of a Sesame Street style "kidz" show. Although it was not the most successful effort from the shorts series, it was fun seeing a ton of cameos including one by the ever coy Wonder Girl.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - Super Best Friends Forever: Don't Fight Girls

I love the SBFFs and I love Solomon Grundy. The combination was not quite successful but I did muster a chuckle at Grundy's line after being mocked and beaten by the girls when he said he was reconsidering fighting girls after all. As of its airing, this was the last of the SBFF batch but I sure hope this charming series gets a much deserved follow up adding Starfire, and Harley Quinn to the mix.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - Super Best Friends Forever: Name Game

SBFF churned out yet another cute short. I believe this was the first one produced, which makes sense as it gives an origin of the team name - which was driven by the spunky Batgirl. I also liked seeing the ultra-feline interpretation of Cheetah. The Batgirl focused short is still my favorite, but there was plenty to like here as well.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - MAD Presents Teen Titanic

I thought there were a couple of really hilarious lines in this one; Raven on the ship's bow and Aqualad's trick were both classic. I also got a kick out of Robin sketching Beast Boy. Perhaps the MAD to non MAD ratio of shorts is beginning to get out of whack, but so far I haven't minded the reuse of the shorts since they have been reasonably funny. 

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - Super Best Friends Forever: Grounded

Since the first two Super Best Friends Forever shorts focused on Wonder Girl and Batgirl, the third time around was Supergirl's turn to shine. The spunky Kara Zor-El took the chance to give cousin Kal a super wedgie when he tried to enforce her grounding. Even if it didn't hit the high bar of the Batgirl episode, this was another cute short keeping SBFF at the top of the pack.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - Super Best Friends Forever: Time Waits For No Girl

I adored this one. I love Batgirl and this was a really cute look at her spunky personality and lots of her gadgets. In particular, I loved the iconic pose in front of the moon. It was also great seeing Poison Ivy even if we didn't get to see her get beat up. This set the bar pretty high for the SBFF batch and for my money, this is the best DC Nation short so far...

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - Super Best Friends Forever: Invisible Joy Ride

Super Best Friends Forever set a high bar for the DC Nation shorts by introducing a new animation style and tone to the genre. Even though these shorts were arguably aimed at girls, there was plenty to like for everyone. The trio of Supergirl, Batgirl, and Wonder Girl were all here, but the focus was on the honorable Wonder Girl (making her first onscreen appearance in 5 decades). As far as I am concerned though, the high energy, burrito craving Batgirl stole the show. 

Better look at Cassie Sandsmark, Young Justice's Wonder Girl

Over at the toonzone forums, some pics of the team have been extracted from a new online Young Justice game, Shadow Mission which give some much better looks at Wonder Girl and Beast Boy. (Thanks to users pyue and RoryWilliams). I have to say, she might not be Donna Troy, but I like the look. Miss Martian may have some competition.

Batgirl From Young Justice Revealed (and More)

Another day, another preview of Young Justice invasion and this one is a doozy. By the way, the season 1 finale was amazing. Anyways, this new preview (embedded) offered up some first looks at Batgirl and Beast Boy as well as better looks at Wonder Girl, Lagoon Boy, Blue Beetle and the updated Robin. It looks like season 2 is going to be pretty amazing. What new character is everyone looking forward to most? Check em out below.

Watch SBFF, Like the Best Thing in Forever

Well, maybe its not really THE best thing ever, but Super Best Friends Forever AKA SBFF does manage to provide a completely new take on some of the beloved gals of DC... all in just over a minute. Hopefully, DC Nation will allow some of the best received segments to find life beyond the planned five 1-minute shorts because SBFF has potential to entertain girls and boys alike. See for yourself. 

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - Teen Titans Recap

I think its worth emphasizing Wonder Girl's role in these adventures. Wonder Girl was the very first female superhero to get an animated treatment, even before Wonder Woman (even if they were technically the same person). On the team, she was arguably portrayed as the most competent and powerful member of the team. Unfortunately, she was also subjected to lots of "doll" and "chick" jesting. Regardless, she is one of the key elements that made Teen Titans such a success. All three of the Teen Titans adventures were enjoyable, and for once we also got some slight variety with one invasion, one monster themed episode, and the final rescue episode. Any of the three episodes were watch worthy, but I choose Operation Rescue as the one to watch.

First Clip From Super BFF is Super Inspired

Sure, its only 20 seconds, and sure, its not necessarily targeted at traditional fans of DC heroes, but whats not to adore about this first glimpse at the Super Best Friends Forever animated shorts?

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - The Monster Machine

The episode opened with a giant robot, but don't worry. That bow tie he was wearing must mean he was a nice well behaved robot. Whats that? He threw a boulder at a house? Oh, it turns out the bow tie was all a ruse. The Teen Titans were soon on the scene, but not very effective. Then the robot submerged in the water giving Aqualad his chance to shine. He blew it, but was aided by an octopus named "Leggy" (no, really). Back on land, the team actually succeeded in taking down the machine, AT-AT style. Just then about 10 more of the robots attacked, but Gill Head and Eagle Eye figured out that an arrow to the bow tie could take them down. The flying Wonder Doll took out the last bot and the team claimed victory. 

Yes, this was absurd but I think I may have loved it.

First Look at SBFF's Batgirl and Wonder Girl

TVGuide has given us a look at a couple of the gals from SBFF (Super Best Friends Forever), one of the shorts featured on the upcoming DC Nation block. Although Supergirl had been revealed already, this is our first look at Batgirl Barbara Gordon and Wonder Girl. SBFF looks to be a lot of fun. Another interesting bit of tid from the article is the promise of appearances in other shorts by Black Lightening, Doctor Fate, the Doom Patrol and Vibe! Can't wait.
