I never heard of this show growing up and when I first learned about it a few years ago, I was really perplexed. Bat-Mite seemed such an odd element for inclusion, even when compared to characters like Gleek and Wonder Dog. He isn't that bad of a character and he was much less annoying than Super Marv. Besides, "He was just trying to help." The problem is that Batman and Robin were so mean to Bat-Mite making them look a bit like bullies.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - The New Adventures of Batman
After the explosion of DC Filmation animation in the late 60's, the studio took a bit of a break from the superhero gig before returning to the well in 1977. The New Adventures of Batman was aired in blocks with Tarzan and the Super 7 which included The Freedom Force and imitation heroes Manta and Moray, Web Woman, and Superstretch and Microwoman. Although there were some similarities between these "New" adventures and Filmation's original 1960's adventures, there were also some striking differences beginning with a fellow named Bat-Mite.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - Super Friends Recap
If brevity is the soul of wit, Super Friends was completely witless. Not only was I bored watching most of the episodes, even the characters seemed bored in them. Wendy and Marvin spent large portions of each episode just trying to kill time and I found myself wishing I was doing what they were doing rather than watching them do it. It is interesting that the series got the axe after a single season, but
was brought back a few years later as a response to the success of the
live action Wonder Woman series. For its second go around, episodes were
edited in half and the half-length episodes were successful enough to
pave the way for a revival. After having watched the series, that totally makes sense. Most of the episodes had decent parts, but often the bad outweighed the good. So, I don't think I can in good conscience recommend five episodes.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - The Watermen
After cleaning it up with her wonder net, Wonder Woman spent a good portion of the episode looking for the source of the "red tide." Interested?

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - The Planet Splitter
Right out of the gate this episode had a WTH moment as an all smiles Robin reminisced about the good old days at the circus. "I wouldn't mind going to the circus myself, just for old times sake. I was a circus performer until my parents were killed..." Those were the days weren't they Robin. How about on the way to the circus you swing by that old street where your pet dog got run over by a truck, you know, for old times sake.
