Crisis of Infinite Episodes - Deadman: Gravefitti

With this final entry, Deadman joins Batman of Shanghai, Wonder Woman, and Amethyst as a perfect series of animated shorts. Like these other series, Deadman brought its own unique style and charm to create a whole world around the hero in just a few minutes of colorful screen time. The world of Deadman may never be explored, but if ever we return to this domain, I will be on board.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - The Strange Secret of Bruce Wayne

Ah Hugo. Hugo Strange was one of the Detectives very first villains dating back to his 1940 debut, but it was over 50 years before his first appearance on screen. Better late than never, but its too bad that after such a wait, this is how Hugo made his debut - looking like a dolt.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - Night of the Ninja

When I was younger I used to find this episode a little boring. Perhaps it was the lack of a super villain or perhaps I just didn't care much for the training days of the Dark Knight. In any case, this episode has aged well and grown on me quite a bit. I suppose in a post-Batman Begins era, the training of Batman is a lot more relevant and this episode offers an insightful look at how Batman copes with knowing he can be beaten.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - The Underdwellers

Ah, one of my personal least favorites. And I can't believe I am going to say this, but at least Batman in My Basement has the Penguin. This one settles for the Sewer King. Like the Basement nightmare episode, this one also features a mob of annoying kids including one that people thought was a leprechaun because he wore a green jacket.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - Perchance to Dream

Is it really impossible to read something in a dream? Even though its pretty obvious from the title that some sort of dream is involved, this episode still maintains a great deal of suspense. Who is The Batman? Who is behind the dream? And the tragedy of Bruce actually believing his nightmare is over and his parents are alive is heart wrenching. Would Bruce choose fantasy or grim reality? You just knew this one wouldn't end well.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - The Cape and the Cowl Conspiracy

I find this episode to be underrated and a very good showcase of Batman's detectiving. On the other hand, Batman did waste an awful lot of time toying with the villain when he should have just taken him down from the start. The villains Wormwood, with his hint of Riddlerisms also isn't really that memorable. So even though this one is a pretty fun first watch, it kinda loses its luster on the rewatch.
