Crisis of Infinite Episodes - Tales of Metropolis: Bizarro

Me am hating this old series of longs. Actually, the Tales of Metropolis series holds a lot of potential giving Superman's supporting cast a chance to shine. It was quite enjoyable seeing the well intentioned Bizarro nearly destroy the earth by throwing the sun at Brainiac. Luckily, Bizarro did end up saving the day even if it meant revealing his secret identity as Not-Bizarro.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - One Small Step For Superman

This was a messed up episode! After inadvertently playing fetch with a grizzly bear, a kid knocked his head and inexplicably became paraplegic. Turns out, his body was fine, but the loss of the use of his legs could be blamed on the guilt he felt over his dog running away- or something like that. Despite a near tragic wheelchair escape sequence, the boy was able to eventually will himself to walk again. Thanks for the free psychology lesson Super Friends. This episode is somewhat notable for the inclusion of a sort of proto-Metallo, kryptonite powered robot - or it would have been if the whole thing hadn't been a ruse by the Friends to make the boy overcome his depression. As for the dog, I think he got eaten by the bear because he never came back.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - Attack of the Cats

By the title alone I was expecting a real "cat"astrophe. At least Cat-Robin and Cat-Bat were good for a laugh.  Its just a shame El Dorado appeared in such horrible "tails."

Super History of Superman: DC's World's Funnest (2011)

DC's World's Funnest was one of the very first sets of shorts used to launch the DC Nation programming block on Cartoon Network. The idea of an Aardman claymation series focusing on Superman and Batman sounded fantastic. Sadly, it was pretty terrible with Superman pretty much just sitting around eating cookies. I cannot imagine anyone wanting to see more of Superman if this was their first exposure to the character.

Check back next week for another chapter in The Super History of Superman.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - The Malusian Blob

The lesson is, never bring home unidentified space junk, it could be a sentient blob with a weakness for sugar. I just don't understand why the pitch for an episode for killer algae got a green light. Were there really no better ideas. Time for a serious series rejiggering.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - An Unexpected Treasure

Another stink whiff of bad Wonder Twins featuring a couple kids that found a flying saucer just laying around in the desert. A very likely scenario indeed. The Hawks also appeared in this one with She-Hawk rocking a new look and believe it or not, this alt-Hawk look just may have been the episodes true unexpected treasure. Now I don't know if Hawkgirl dyed her hair and went on a shopping trip or if Hawkman was flocking with a new chick, but one has to wonder why the redesign for this one short?

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - Prisoners of Sleep

For some reason, a space alien ghost was imprisoned in Sputnik and Superman let him out and then got very sleepy. Oops. Mr. Sandman turned out to be quite the challenge, transporting our heroes to the demented land of Nod. The premise actually held a lot of promise, though the nightmares were awfully tame. Superman had a kryptonite touch and Batman got attacked by a worm. Also, Batman sure was whiny in this one.
