Looks like fun. Maybe I will have to swing by the store on the way home, either that or invite Wonder Woman over for craft time.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - Vibe: Enter Extreme-O Part One
Vibe had a spectacularly 90's feel epitomized by the title card. Was it fun watching Vibe dance? Sure, am I hoping for a ton of these shorts or a "spin"-off series. I don't think so. The indication of To Be Continued hints that maybe this is a two and done proposition.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - De-Coder (Evil Spirit)
First off, sweet bikes. Second, I am kinda surprised that talk of evil spirits was allowed on the airwaves back then. Maybe that's why it had to be coded.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - The Ghost
You know those three ghosts that hitch a ride with you in the Disneyland Haunted Mansion ride? Well, I think they were in this episode as members of the Ghoul Jury led by Judge, Jury, and Gentleman, Jim.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - The New Adventures of the Wonder Twins: Be Kind, Rewind
This final in the series of parodies was pretty classic, not only for taking a jab at the Weekend at Bernie's series, but for having the get together we always wanted: the Wonder Twins meeting Wendy and Marvin at the video store. I suppose the Twins incestuous tendencies are a little understandable considering they were named after literary lovers TarZAN and Jane(a).

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - Stowaways
Remember kids, never stowaway. You may think it will "be a gas," but the Wonder Twins may not be there to save you from the natural consequences of your actions. I suppose another lesson may be not to take a small boat out in rough water without stowaways because they actually saved the sea captains life. And even though the adventure was at sea, the twins went for the perfect run of eagle - water bucket for their final solo outing... that is until Jayna busted out her flying fish routine. Of course, a flying fish is more practical than say.. a bird for flying.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - MAD Presents That's What Super Friends Are For
Yes, by now I feel that the MAD presents shorts are coming too frequently. At least the shorts selected have been among MAD's best, but I hope its a few weeks before another one gets picked. Another problem I had with this particular short is that nearly half the running time was trimmed from the original short for the DC Nation airing. In the original, before the song began Batman was ordering Plastic Man to get him a drink and he couldn't even remember his name. The context makes the song a bit funnier.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - The Protector
In the name of protecting the seas, a villain calling himself the Shark (though that's Captain Shark to his crew) was up to no good. Now I can't tell if the Shark was wearing a skintight full body suit or if all he was wearing was underwear, gloves, and a cape, though it appears as though the later was the case. In the end, the Shark, Captain of the S.S. Shark, was captured by sharks. Oh the irony.

Most Anticipated Superhero Shows of 2013
2012 was perhaps the greatest year yet for superheroes. Marvel's the Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises were the two biggest movies of the year, each surpassing a billion dollars in worldwide box office receipts. Spider-Man was successfully relaunched and even C-listers Judge Dredd and Ghost Rider were given the chance (though they were not successful) to relaunch potential film franchises. The found footage film Chronicle was another bright spot in the genre paving the way for the success of lower budget films. DC churned out three more animated films with Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Part 1 proving that the film line hasn't yet run out of tricks. So can 2013 top this past year? Perhaps not financially, but there are a ton of projects worth getting excited about. Let's countdown the most anticipated new superhero shows of 2013...

Green Lantern Animated Series - Season 1.5 Preview!

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - Time Rescue
If a time machine lost someone in the future, I would probably not "rush" to their rescue. But this episode still ended up being pretty amazing with its own version of a Mos Eisley-like future cantina full of scum, villainy, bizarre voices, and little guys that looked like Orko. A totally idiotic story, yes, but still a fun one to watch.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - De-Coder (Sunshine)
I would have guessed the decoder clue would have been either "magnet" or "planet" but after 14 episodes, they finally decided on a clue that had nothing to do with the preceding episode. Maybe those other words were deemed too hard.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - New Teen Titans: Blackfire's Babysitter
On its own, the short is fine. The Happy Mother's Day message at the end is laugh inducingly ironic. But for fans of the Teen Titans animated series, this was a real treat. Blackfire only appeared in a pair of episodes, but sort of disappeared with no real resolution. She was last seen trying to force Starfire into marrying the very same alien Glgrdsklechhh who fathered her children. Even though I was not a huge Blackfire fan this tie back to the series was much appreciated and enjoyed.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - The Runaways
After decorating a float for Metropolis Day, the Twins rescues some teen runaways from a super creepy guy who offered to "put them up for the night." Luckily the dude just wanted some robbery accomplices. Luckily the old trusty giraffe slide made for a great escape.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - Safety (Safety Equipment)
Once again, Aquaman emerged from a conveniently located swimming pool in order to deliver his lesson. Where he got his own set of catcher's pads, I know not.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - The Marsh Monster
Watching this episode I felt like I was watching either Scooby Doo or an animated version of the Clue movie. I kept waiting for the Marsh Monster to "do it" with a Scooby Snack it the study. Seriously, we has secret passages, a haunted mansion, and mask removals. Zoinks!

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - Animal Man: City
The inclusion of Darkseid was a nice treat and I enjoyed Animal Man's hummingbird impersonation, but this one was just otherwise okay. I just didn't find it that funny watching a poor guy get chewed out out seconds before his demise at the clutches of a parademon.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - Cable Car Rescue
If your cable car ever gets stuck, I wouldn't recommend attempting to fix it yourself by climbing hand over hand down the cable. Maybe that should have been the subject of one of the safety spots. Taking Atom along seemed really pointless at first, but that was before I realized he could apparently fly and carry a full grown man while in tiny form. He also had super "atomic speed," sonar confusing "atomic vibration," and seemed to spray pixie dust. Why not just let him turn into a parachute if you are giving out powers or let him stop time? Strangely, his size changing power never really came into play.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - Craft (Piggy Bank)
Not one of the best crafts unless you want a stinky and crappy looking pig wasting space in your house. Sorry Aquaman, that's not "recycling," its still trash.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - De-Coder (Mummy)
At least this decoder was a bit challenging. Synonym for quiet or nickname for mother (mum) + not you but rhymes with she (me). And while I am pretty sure this puzzle was still solvable by anyone, I have to stop and wonder once again, what's the point. Yeah, there was a mummy in the last episode. So what?
04 December 2012
Crisis of Infinite Episodes - The Mummy of Nazca
"With the strength of a thousand daddies," the Mummy proved more than a match for form of a gorilla but not for the combined force of the Super Friends.Well, actually, they never really stopped the mummy, in the end he rode a rocket ship back to his home planet... really.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - Dangerous Prank
You know what would be a good prank? Dressing up like Bigfoot and scaring your friend on a ski slope. Just remember that costume is due back by 5:00. In other words, this was another stinker.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - Animal Man: Beach
This has to be my favorite Animal Man short so far. Not only did it include Black Manta, one of my all time favorite DC villains, but it was also very funny as it depicted AM's devastation at having failed to save a sand castle for a crab. Buddy Baker's fish style entrance was also classic. It may have only run for 30 seconds, but this was another flawless effort.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - Frozen Peril
The creature from the black lagoon reject, dubbed Sculpin had the dastardly idea to freeze all of the world's oceans in order to transport water to the deserts. What a fiend, trying to solve world famine without asking permission from the Super Friends.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - Tibetan Raiders
This is one of the worst of the series. After a plane split in half Lost-style over the Himalayas, some racist Sherpa stereotypes stole the planes tail section. Why? Because it was there I guess. Luckily Flash brought a shovel along to super-speed dig out the plane from an avalanche. And that was a wrap on this bomb.

Another decent diversion from Aquaman. If you attempt the trick, just watch out for where that dropping glass lands.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - MAD Presents Teen Titanic
I thought there were a couple of really hilarious lines in this one; Raven on the ship's bow and Aqualad's trick were both classic. I also got a kick out of Robin sketching Beast Boy. Perhaps the MAD to non MAD ratio of shorts is beginning to get out of whack, but so far I haven't minded the reuse of the shorts since they have been reasonably funny.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - De-Coder (Shrink)
Shivering - ivering + rink. That Robin sure is a genius... then again he wouldn't be shivering if he wore more than panties when he went skiing.
22 November 2012
Crisis of Infinite Episodes - The Tiny World of Terror
The Super Friends voluntarily submitted to shrinking in order to more efficiently find the involuntarily shrunk scientists. Not sure that was such a good idea, but I guess it all worked out in the end. Why they didn't just call in the Atom? or stay big and use their eyes? or at least keep one friend big to guard the machine? I am pretty sure Aquaman could have handled that frog a lot easier if he wasn't the size of a bug. That goes the same for the near lethal encounters with wasps and spiders.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - Prejudice
In this very special edition of the Super Friends, it was form of a geyser to the rescue. I actually do respect the show for making a decent message about racism without going way over the top. Kudos.

Spotlight on Huntress - Update
Next week, Huntress will smash her way onto Arrow and some fresh images have hit the web.
Before she was a heroine, Huntress was the name of a DC supervillain, but the first heroic Huntress made her debut in 1977 in All Star Comics #69. Helena Wayne, daughter of Bruce Wayne and Catwoman would bear the name until Helena Rosa Bertinelli was introduced in 1989. The modern version would not be Batman's daughter but would fill in as Batgirl and as a member of the Birds of Prey.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - Super Best Friends Forever: Grounded
Since the first two Super Best Friends Forever shorts focused on Wonder Girl and Batgirl, the third time around was Supergirl's turn to shine. The spunky Kara Zor-El took the chance to give cousin Kal a super wedgie when he tried to enforce her grounding. Even if it didn't hit the high bar of the Batgirl episode, this was another cute short keeping SBFF at the top of the pack.

Onscreen History of Electro
The interweb has revealed the likely identify of the villain in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 to be the electrifying Electro. Electro first zapped his way into Spidey's life in 1964's Amazing Spider-Man #9 and has been a mainstay in Spider-Man media ever since. As a founding member of the Sinister Six, Electro is one of the better members who has yet to make his live action debut.

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - The Lionmen
This one certainly started strong with the Orange Lantern looking Lion-X of the Lionmen and his cadre of alien companions including the return of a Swamp Things look-alike. They wanted to slice and divide Earth like an orange.

Watch Mumbo's Return in Leaked Teen Titans Short

Crisis of Infinite Episodes - New Teen Titans: Turn Back the Clock
After a lackluster short in Stream of Consciences, the New Teen Titans were back in top form. Turn Back the Clock not only brought back a fan favorite villain in Mad Mod, but jam packed the brief 1-minute running time with delicious eye candy. As time waves passed, the modern team was redesigned for the 90's, 80's, 70's, and 60's with the short concluding with the Titans of the future (here for more pics).
