After filming Superman and the Mole Men, production went full steam ahead on the Adventures of Superman TV series which aired for six seasons from 1952 through 1958. In all, 104 episodes aired including a two-parter which was really just a recycled version of the Mole Men movie - and George Reeves became Superman for a generation.
Following two seasons of black and white episodes, the final four seasons were filmed in color, though they did not air in color until the mid sixties. While the series used many of the Superman tropes such as maintaining a secret identity, rescuing fellow Daily Planet staff, and battling criminals who on occasion possessed kryptonite, the series did not incorporate any of Superman's traditional villains such as Lex Luthor or Brainiac. One of the final episodes, Perils of Superman is regarded as one of the series best episodes.
