Heroes: The Ninja Turtles Raphael, Leonardo, Donatello, and Michelangelo, their mentor Splinter, and of course Casey Jones.
Villains: The Shredder and his Foot Clan.
Diabolical Scheme: Shredder was recruiting disillusioned youth to train as ninja's in explanding the reach of his underground criminal syndicate.
Coolest Moment(s): Watching costumed actors fight in turtle suits was actually impressive. The best fight was the one in April's apartment in which the Foot soldier just kept coming.
Worst Moment: A couple scenes were a little over the top and either intentionally or unintentionally laugh inducing. 1) Rat puppet splinter mimicking his master. 2) The thefts early in the movie that occurred in broad daylight. I am also torn on the "I made a funny line at the end."
Opening Weekend: $25,398,367
Total Domestic Box Office: $135,265,915
Review in 50 Words or Less: The movie wants to be taken seriously and almost could be if not for constant campy pizza references, pandering to kids, and a pretty out there premise. The turtles not likely to convert any skeptics to the franchise, but for pre-exisitng fans, cowabunga, its a fun time!
I've re-watched this recently and am still entertained - it really holds up well, and as you said, seeing guys in turtle suits fight convincingly is a pretty impressive feat.
