Will The X-Men Fool Me Thrice?

The new X-Men: First Class trailer looks awesome... But so did the trailers for X3 and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Then again, I give those movies more credit than most, so I am pretty sure this will be a enjoyable move. It also has some real potential to rejuvenate the X-Men franchise, its just too bad it is coming out in a superhero saturated Summer. Will it stand out enough amid Thor, Captain America, and Green Lantern to overcome the negative buzz of the last two X-Films?

The other question I have is this, if X-Men First Class is a success, what then? The direction of the franchise has been so confusing. There are still rumors of X4 and X5 in the works along with Deadpool and a Wolverine sequel. Are all those films really going to get made. There have also been rumors that there could be sequels to First Class set between this movie and the original trilogy. I don't know if that is a good idea. I mean, if First Class is good, why pigeonhole the sequels into trying to fit into the same continuity which is already unraveling? And after burning through so many characters already in X3 and Wolverine, they are limited in who could logically be included in sequel prequels. I really think if there is an X-Men First Class 2 (terrible title by the way, but what would you call it?) that even though it would be totally ripping off Star Trek, they should do some sort of time alteration to free themselves up. Time travel is a part of X-Men lore, why not use it to start a new, more consistent with current comics, branch of stories for the movies?

Anyways /end rant. This looks good.

More Transformers to Meet Your Eyes

The less said about Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen, the better. The movie was not good, but it was also really incoherent, which makes me sympathize a little bit with excuses that the movie was hit hard by the writers strike at the time... The argument would hold more water if the first Transformers was good. Don't get me wrong, it was a highly entertaining movie, but cinema, not so much. Anyways, Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon is nearly upon us and these images promise more sword toting robots and giant flying bug bots. So, it might be another good diversion to finish of the trilogy. What I am most excited about is what I don't see, the twins.

Behold Three Emerald Knights of the Green Lantern Corps

I have to say, when these guys aren't moving they look pretty good. Hopefully the final effects will look this sharp.

Take a Looki at the Thor Post Credits Stinger Scene

Granted the video quality is ridonkulous, but it looks like Loki and his trickery will not end with Thor. Is he the Avengers big bad?

The Green Lantern Guardians Exposed

Has Mattel let the first Green Lantern Guardian "Baris" out of the proverbial bag? Kinda hot, right?

Smallville Teases the Return of Lex Luthor

For those of you not keeping score at home, at the end of Smallville's seventh season, Lex Luthor disappeared when the Fortress of Solitude collapsed on him. Although he was presumed dead, it was later revealed that he was alive, though not well, will all sorts of mechanical contraptions keeping him alive. Green Arrow finally had enough and killed Lex, a decision which continued to haunt him. After that various Lex clones were spotted and for the most part destroyed with the last of the clones turning into Connor Kent AKA Superboy. We know Lex is set to appear in the series finale, poised to become Superman's greatest foe, but now we have a clue as to the method of his return. It looks like maybe Ollie didn't kill him after all, which would be nice since it would make Green Arrow no longer a murderer. Whatever is the method of his return, you've got to admit, its a pretty miraculous recovery.

Year One's Batman Spotted

&<span class=

Praise be to Heat Vision for giving the scoop on the upcoming animated Batman: Year One voice cast along with a couple of images from the movie. This pics are gorgeous. I think the simple designs are going to look fantastic when we see them in motion.

As for the cast, Ben McKenzie from the OC is Batman, Malcolm in the Middle's dad is Gordon. Starbuck is Sarah Essen and Dollhouse is Catwoman (as some had predicted from an enigmatic tweet a few weeks back). Although Catwoman didn't have a lot to do in the Year One comic, additional material was written for a Catwoman short that will accompany the movie and I assume Faith with do the voice for that as well. This looks like yet another winner from DC.
