Heroes:  Allan Quatermain, the Invisible Man, Captain Nemo, Tom Sawyer, Mina Harker, Dr. Jekyll (and Mr. Hyde)

Villains: Moriarty and Dorian Gray

Diabolical Scheme:Moriarty wanted to steal the extraordinary skills of the League to... conquer the world I guess. 

The Trial of the Incredible Hulk (1989) - Discount Review

Heroes: Hulk and Daredevil: The Man Without Fear, and a cameo by Stan the Man Lee

Villains: Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin

Captain America II: Death Too Soon (1979) - Discount Review

Heroes: "Captain America" with a really big helmet.

Villains: Count Saruman Dooku as General Miguel

Diabolical Scheme: Miguel heisted a concoction that accelerated aging and used it to hold an exposed city ransom.As for his fate, "He chose poorly."

Electra Woman and Dyna Girl (2001) - Discount Review

Heroes: Electra Woman and Dyna Girl (II)

Villains: A pair of two-bit thieves

Diabolical Schemes: This short pilot attempting to revive the 70's action comedy (which I had never heard of before) didn't really last long enough to establish a villainous scheme. The villains did try to rob a jewelry store though.

Ghost Rider (2007) - Discount Review

Heroes: The Ghost Rider(s)

Villains: Mephisto AKA Mephistopheles and Blackheart

Diabolical Scheme: Blackheart wanted a contract for souls that for some reason would make him super powerful - even though he was already invulnerable. Mephisto wanted Ghost Rider to stop him.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze (1991) - Discount Review

Heroes: The shell-heads all came back, Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael, along with Splinter, and  Keno the karate kicking pizza boy.

Villains: Shredder and minions Tokka and Rahzar (don't call them Rocksteady and Bebop)

Diabolical Scheme: Shredder got his hands on the same ooze that made the turtles into humanoids and he planned to make his own breed of mutants.

The Incredible Hulk Returns (1988) - Discount Review

Recommended For: Kids who would be excited just to see Thor without actually caring how lame he was.

Heroes: Hulk and Thor AND (surprisingly) Donald Blake the non-alter ego summoner of Thor

Villains: Some extremely forgettable guys

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990) - Discount Review

Heroes: The Ninja Turtles Raphael, Leonardo, Donatello, and Michelangelo, their mentor Splinter, and of course Casey Jones.

Villains: The Shredder and his Foot Clan.

Diabolical Scheme: Shredder was recruiting disillusioned youth to train as ninja's in explanding the reach of his underground criminal syndicate.

The Incredible Hulk: Pilot (1977) - Discount Review

Heroes: The Incredible Hulk

Villains: Tabloid reporter Jack McGee

Diabolical Schemes: Trying to get to the bottom of the mysterious Hulk sighting, Jack McGee ambushed David Banner and lab-mate Elaina accidentally blowing up the lab, killing Elaina and giving Dave an excuse to play dead as he hit the road for 82 episodes.

Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman Pilot (1993) - Discount Review

Recommended For: With Smallville having ended and no Superman or other high profile superhero movies on the Fall schedule and The Man of Steel still two years off, it just may be time to dust off this old series. 

Blankman (1994) - Discount Review

Heroes: Blankman and sidekick "Other Guy" along with robotic sidekick J5

Villains: Michael "The Suit" Minelli

Diabolical Scheme: Minelli wanted to keep a tight grip as crime lord by buying politicians and killing grandmas. The inspiring Blankman gained his attention.

The Meteor Man (1993) - Discount Review

Heroes: The Meteor Man

Villains: The Golden Lords

Diabolical Scheme: The Golden Lords simply want to maintain control of crime and to keep their grip make the heroic Meteor Man their prime target.

Superhero Movie (2008) - Discount Review

Recommended for:  Anyone who loved the original Spider-Man enough to watch it a ridiculous number of times, yet can still laugh at it with a fondness. Oh, and for people who love fart jokes.

Heroes: Dragonfly. Other heroes make brief appearances including Wolverine, Professor X, Storm and several other mutants. Also the Human Torch and Invisible Woman.

Villains: Hourglass

Diabolical Scheme: Obtaining strength by draining the life out of others, Hourglass planned to kill 42,000 people to gain immortality.

Wonder Woman (1974) - Discount Review

Another week, another attempt at a Wonder Woman franchise, another failure.

Heroes: Diana Prince AKA Wonder Woman this time I-Ching style. Along with blonde hair and a lack of super powers, this Woman's golden lasso was just a repelling rope that cameo out of her belt. Rather than deflect bullets, her bracelets were grappling hooks / explosives. She did have an invisible jet, but obviously you couldn't see it.

Villains: Ricardo Montalban as Abner Smith

Diabolical Scheme: Like the plot of the original Mission Impossible movie (sans masks) the plot involved Smith having stolen lists of the identities of secret agents. He held the names ransom until payment was delivered by means of a very hard to track burro.

Wonder Woman: Pilot (1975) - Discount Review

 Recommended For: Anyone who needs to get the rancid taste of of any of the other Wonder Woman pilots (1967, 1974, or 2011) out of their mouth. 

Heroes: Diana Prince AKA Wonder Woman

Villains: The Nazis

Diabolical Scheme: The Nazis wanted to take over the world and they had a double agent embedded as Major Steve Trevor's secretary plotting to kill Trevor and bomb the Naval ship yard in Brooklyn.

Coolest Moment(s): The pilot managed to do a fairly faithful adaptation of the origin of Wonder Woman, well at least of her victory in the Amazon contest culminating with the Bullets and Bracelets event. Basically any time Wonder Woman deflected bullets was awesome, especially from a tommy gun.

Worst Moment: I know its part of the mythology, but they didn't quite pull off the silly invisible jet.

Review in 50 Words or Less: The World War II setting combined with an iconic portrayal of Wonder Woman provides this pilot with a timeless quality and feel-good charm. Even if it drags a tad in places, this just may be the best live action Wonder Woman to ever see the light of day.

Wonder Woman Pilot (2011) - Discount Review

Recommended For: Anyone disappointed that the upcoming Wonder Woman show was cancelled. By episode end they will be shouting Hallelujah.

Heroes: Wonder Woman, who is known publicly as Diana Themyscira head of Themyscira Inc., (which sells Wonder Woman action figures to fund Wondy's exploits). She also maintains an alter-ego as the vulnerable and anonymous Diana Prince.

Villains: Evil pharmaceutical company CEO, Veronica Cale

Who's Afraid of Diana Prince? (1967) - Discount Review

Recommended For: Wonder Woman completionists and those with a morbid curiosity.

Heroes: Wonder Woman

Villains: Diana's Mother

Diabolical Scheme: Mom wants Wonder Woman to settle down and get married rather than save the world.

Silver Surfer (1994) - Discount Review

Recommended For: Anyone who complains about today's "crappy" computer animated effects.

Heroes: Silver Surfer

Villains: A bully

Diabolical Scheme: The bully took another boy's "doll."

The Green Hornet (2011) - Discount Review

Not Recommended For: Moms who remember the Green Hornet from his TV series and / or crossover on the Adam West Batman Series way back in '66 (my mom hated this movie).

Heroes: The Green Hornet and sidekick Kato
