Its that time of year again. If there is one sure thing in life its that the summer will bring at least one superhero sequel - this year we can look forward to Iron Man 3, The Wolverine, and later in the year Thor: The Dark World. Will they be any good? Chances are yes, but here is the competition of the best superhero sequels ever made.

See the Amazing New Suit for the Spider-Man Sequel

Spider-Man will be swinging in a whole new costume in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Comingsoon.net has landed an image of the costume which looks inspired by the one from the Raimi films with bigger and brighter eyes. Its a pretty big departure from the costume in the first Amazing Spider-Man movie which was a bit more "realistic," but I am glad to see the return of the webbing. Onscreen History of Electro

The interweb has revealed the likely identify of the villain in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 to be the electrifying Electro. Electro first zapped his way into Spidey's life in 1964's Amazing Spider-Man #9 and has been a mainstay in Spider-Man media ever since. As a founding member of the Sinister Six, Electro is one of the better members who has yet to make his live action debut.

Now that's the quippy Spidey we've been waiting for. Apparently you can buy this scene from Wal-Mart for $3. Its also a convenient length for YouTube distribution. What a weird idea, you would almost think they wanted it to leak, wink wink. Then again, maybe they are blazing new trails for a la carte movie consumption. I will take the opening scene from X2, Superman vs Zod from Superman II, and the Iron Man cave sequence.

Ultimate Spider-Man Gets an Iron Suit and New Trailer

The Iron Spider takes on Iron Man in this new and improved trailer for Ultimate Spider-Man. I guess I need to come to grips and accept that Spectacular Spider-Man isn't coming back. The idea of Spidey being trained by SHIELD does have potential, and this is the best trailer so far at showing the potential of Ultimate Spider-Man.

Entertainment Weekly has an exclusive clip from the upcoming Ultimate Spider-Man animated series.I hate always being down on Marvel, especially on Spider-Man, but after the top notch Spectacular Spider-Man series this clip sort of breaks my heart. You know the feeling, "they cancelled Spectacular for THIS!?" But hey, at least that paved the way for Young Justice.

Better Looks at Spidey's Amazing Lizard Man

 

The second trailer for July's reboot, The Amazing Spider-Man finally reveals the film's villain, the Lizard. Even though the scaly one is seen but briefly, high definition screen grabs will capture him for the eternities.

Look no further for the second trailer for this July's Spider-Man reboot, The Amazing Spider-Man. The trailer includes some Pez-free glimpses of the Lizard. I will say one thing, this looks a lot better than the pitched Spider-Man4 with the Vultress sounded.

Ranking Superhero Movie Theme Songs

The time has come to rank the top superhero movie themes of all time... well at least of the last 40 years. In order to make the cut, there were a few basic rules. 

1) The theme had to come from a movie. Sorry Wonder Woman, Justice League Unlimited, and Greatest American Hero, you will have to duke it out another day.

2) The original song couldn't just be in a superhero movie, but needed to be the actual theme music. Sorry Star Spangled Man.

3) The theme needed to be memorable, recognizable, and enjoyable. You may say "D'uh" but 2003's Hulk theme for example fit the character and can be easily recalled, but I don't ever desire to listen to it.   

And off we go...

Without further ado I give you my most anticipated superhero shows of 2012 (Check out #11-19 here).

10) G.I. Joe: Retaliation- 29 June 2012

Its no secret that I quite enjoyed GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra for what it was. At this point I find the Joe franchise more interesting, entertaining, and surprisingly age appropriate than Hasbro's Transformers. No matter what you feel about the first one, GI Joe 2 looks to be the better movie. Cast members have been upgraded with additions of The Rock, Bruce Willis, and that girl who almost played Wonder Woman. Also, Snake Eyes lost his "gimp lips." Even though it too may get lost in the shuffle, GI Joe: Retaliation looks like it could be a near perfect summer blockbuster - you know the kind where the plot is irrelevant.

For the Love of Pete (Parker) Heres Another Terrible Glimpse of the Lizard

What in the world is Sony thinking? I guess they aren't ready reveal the Lizard from The Amazing Spider-Man just yet, so rather than giving fans a decent image to pick apart we are left with terrible glimpses from marketing tie-ins, this time the culprit being Mega Blocks. The worst part of all of this is that the Mega Blocks image gives us the best look so far and all I can say is the Lizard looks ridiculous.

Spider-Man Poster Propogates a Web of Deceit

I like the look of the new poster for next Summer's The Amazing Spider-Man, its the words I have a problem with. Thus far, all signs have indicated that a more appropriate tag line for the film would be The Retold Story. They keep trying to convince people that even though its a reboot, there is some deep dark story that just got skipped in the previous franchise and somehow this movie fits into that continuity. Lies!

Is This Really Spidey's Lizard? Yikes!

Our Russian comrades have leaked a clear first alleged look the Lizard from next Summer's Amazing Spider-Man. Hopefully this is a delayed image from a communist era Spider-Man fan film, because I think this looks ridonculous. Sadly, our friends at PEZ make us think it may be all too legit. (Too legit to quit, hey hey. )

Superhero Movie (2008) - Discount Review

Recommended for:  Anyone who loved the original Spider-Man enough to watch it a ridiculous number of times, yet can still laugh at it with a fondness. Oh, and for people who love fart jokes.

Heroes: Dragonfly. Other heroes make brief appearances including Wolverine, Professor X, Storm and several other mutants. Also the Human Torch and Invisible Woman.

Villains: Hourglass

Diabolical Scheme: Obtaining strength by draining the life out of others, Hourglass planned to kill 42,000 people to gain immortality.

Marvelous Animation Tour - Spider-Man (1994)

Swinging onto the scene in November of 1994, just a few months after Iron Man and the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man spanned 65 episodes over 5 seasons. The series stood along side the X-Men animated series as one of the bright spots for Marvel animation in the 90's.

Proving once again that quantity cannot make up for lack of quality, 1994 produced a veritable heap of superhero shows; unfortunately most have since been long forgotten. Now is your chance to remember them as we flash back to the 90s.
